I’ll never forget the moment we found out we were having a girl. Owen was in the bath tub when I got a notification from my doctor. My heart skipped a beat as I took a moment to process. Should we open it now or wait? I called Mitchell to come here from the other room. We couldn’t wait to find out. We curled up on our bed for a second looking at each other with anticipation. I clicked the open button. There’s no turning back now, I thought. As I held my breath, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would it be obvious upon opening the email or would I have to scroll?
It took all of two seconds of scanning the page to find out we were having a girl! My eyes whaled up with tears. Mitch gave me one of his great embracing hugs, as we held each other with so much happiness. We were having a girl! He was going to be a girl dad. She was going to have him wrapped around her finger.
I should have known. Not too long before that notification, Owen had pointed out quite literally pointing at my stomach, “baby sister!” I hadn’t even started showing. They say children have the purest intuition and I believe it.
I couldn’t wait for all of the little girl clothes and feminine decor. I started to dream up her nursery. Taking a trip to New Mexico for my nephew’s baptism, I was inspired by the beautiful Sandia Mountains I thought I’d go for a bohemian, eclectic mix. My buys from the trip and mood board shown below.
I ended up changing directions a few times, buying anything that tugged at my heart strings and ultimately ending up where I always go, inspired by French decor, and floral and feminine everything.
