Oh, sweet September. Hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend celebrating the final days of summer with friends and or family. As for me, I spent the rainy weekend at home in Houston, spending time with my silly little boy and working around the house marking off our home’s honey do’s with my hubs.
August completely flew by, leaving me feeling unaccomplished when it comes to my personal life, my favorite hobby (sharing with you)! I had so much I wanted to get to, that I apologize here and now for not getting around to it. I’m trying to do a better job of balancing and prioritizing, at times I feel like I’m drowning with so much on my plate. I feel like I used to be so organized – when did life of “adulting” get so complicated?
I can’t tell you enough how good it feels to get some fall cleaning done this past weekend. Working in retail constantly has me planning months ahead, yet but also in the day-to-day details of what’s happening around me in social media. Having the house nice and tidy, opens some head space and gives me a sense of peace so I can focus my energy on work.
Now the house is clean and tidy, Mitchell and I were able to team up to redecorate our home office. We painted the walls, added a wallpaper feature wall and bought lots of new furniture from Office Monster. We’re super happy with how it’s turned out and I’m looking forward to getting some work done in there. Mitchell also did a great job cleaning out one of our side gardens, transplanting our banana plants from their pots to the ground, adding mulch and making it look nice. I love that we’re able to enjoy them from the patio. He also swapped our burnt-out bistro lights with new strings, so we can enjoy the cooler temps outdoors at night. One of our favorite things to do in the fall is playing dominoes on the patio, watching football and enjoying some good wine.
I pulled out our pumpkins, all the fall scented candles, comfy blankets and fall decor to get the house feeling cozy. I can’t wait for the nights that we’re able to spend watching Grey’s with the fireplace lit, cuddled on the couch.
With a slower month ahead, I’ve scheduled time to get around to all the things that I want to get done. I think this is something important to do when it comes to loving yourself and living a happy life. We have to make time for ourselves. We do it for friends all the time, schedule time to catch up, so why not do it for ourselves and prioritize our goals. This is definitely something I need to work on. There’s a quote that keeps coming to mind and I feel like there’s a reason for it,
“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”Benjamin Franklin
I need to take time this month to prepared for a busy October with two weddings and a cruise, I’m excited about what’s to come but also want to make sure that we’re ready. Anyone else find themselves planning time to plan? Sounds silly, but it seems this is what I need.
Thanks for stopping by! If you enjoyed this post, please share it with your friends.
