Weekend Round Up

KatKleinStyle-ChicagoI kicked off August with a trip to Chicago, a la The Blog Societies. It gave me a chance to network with some awesome blogger babes, gave me insight on both sides of the blogging spectrum (blogger/brand) and I got to enjoy a couple of hours touring the town with the always fun, always fabulous, and one of my favorite people, Margret of Style the Girl!

Thursday night kicked off with a happy hour hosted by Vera Bradley at the Sugar Factory off Chicago River North, which had a fun little bar with these red bar stools that reminded me of an old school donut shop that my Grandpa used to take me to when I was a little girl, ah the nostalgia…  They had the cutest side street patio with a french feel and couldn’t pass up the opportunity for an OOTD.

We had late reservations at the Ah-mazing RMP Italian backed by Giuliana & Bill Rancic. When Momma Depandi’s name’s on the menu, you know it’s good (Giuliana & Bill…anyone?). Let me just tell you, the earliest time we could get a reservation was 9:45pm and we scarfed down the main course so fast, I was only able to snap a pic of the antipasti. The 600-Day Proscuitto and Truffle Garlic Bread were to die for. For entrees we shared the Carbonara (a Klein favorite) and an Italian classic, Chicken Parmesan. *drooling at the thought*

Friday night I had the pleasure of dining with ladies from across the country, Nashville, Florida and Virginia just to name a few. We had reservations at the very instagramable Hampton Social. Where the Frosé Cocktail is a must.

Saturday after the conference our Mom’s weekend away was officially in full swing as we checked into The Gwen, a beautiful hotel located on Michigan avenue (and all too conveniently close to Nordstrom). We were in tourist mode as ran around town to check out the bean and attempted to make it up to the Skydeck, but after waiting in line for two hours and darkness quickly approaching, we said forget it and opted out for a little Shake Shake, some face masks, and The Notebook.

Sunday we made our way on over to Stan’s Donuts before shooting some looks and had to make a pit stop at Nordstrom as it was the last day of their anniversary sale, which may or may not have been a bad idea. I ended up getting everything I tried on, which goes to show that when items are visually merchandised just right everything looks so pretty and like it belongs together… in my closet.

Chicago was so much fun! I’m happy I finally got to make a summer trip to experience the beautiful city during its warmer days.

I’m ready to plan my next trip. Is there a city you’re planning on visiting soon? Let me know!

Sadly, some of the items featured above have sold out, but I’ve listed similar styles below.
